Before you come
What to bring to a first evaluation
- Recent lab work, including A1c, B12 and a thyroid panel if you have them
- A current medication and supplement list, with doses
- Any prior nerve conduction study or EMG report
- Notes on what makes symptoms worse: time of day, activity, temperature, standing or walking distance
- The shoes you wear most, so fit and wear pattern can be checked
The first visit
What to expect
The first visit is an evaluation rather than a treatment session. Expect a history review, a look at your medications and recent labs, and a hands-on exam of the affected areas that usually includes monofilament, vibration and reflex testing. If key information is missing, testing is ordered before a protocol is recommended. You leave with an explanation of what appears to be driving the neuropathy, what a protocol would involve, and what those components cost, reviewed with you at that visit.
This clinic is not an emergency service. Progressive weakness in a leg or foot, a foot that drops when you walk, numbness across the groin or inner thighs, or any new change in bowel or bladder control is a surgical emergency, with or without pain — go to an emergency department the same day rather than booking a consultation here. A foot wound that is not healing, or any other new or rapidly worsening neurological change, needs your physician rather than a treatment protocol.
